I have been a big fan of thorchain for a while, I think its a game changer as basically a cross chain uniswap. I would like to open up discussion of integration of thorchain into the wallet. It seems to me that integration would allow all the assets that thorchain supports in one wallet without us doing it ourselves natively GitHub - thorchain/midgard: The Midgard Public API queries THORChain and any chains linked via the Bifröst and prepares information about the network to be readily available for public users. The API parses event data from THORChain. Midgard does not hold critical information. (I could be mistaken on that I am not a developer) as well as allowing user to earn yield on the native assets thorchain supports. I am not sure if this aligns with our long term strategy and where we think the industry is going though (evm centric seems to be the theme so far), just thought I’d bring it up!
Interesting idea. I doubt that the other non-evm assets would be spendable with the Pillar wallet? They would only be viewable and stored on Thorchain? I think it would be more like a Pillar-Thorchain account than a wallet
it depends what you mean by spendable, the native asset wallets are functional so you can send/receive bch from the thorchain wallet for example.
Sure, I am thinking about how PLR wallet removed native BTC and now supports Ethereum chain wBTC. Thorchain as crosschain swap uses the native assets
ya exactly, but at the same time you cant deny theres a massive demand for storing the native assets themselves and also earning a yield on them in a decentralized way.
If you’re venturing outside of EVM then I’m pretty sure the team’s answer will be no. But I would support the idea.
The more the merrier, just don’t want users to get confused with all the services within the wallet as we’re already having issues with on boarding
it seems to me an integration of the thorchain swap service just for eth assets could be on the table however. I could easily see thorchain becoming the deepest wbtc pool for example.
I like Thorchain as well, from the looks of it (https://app.thorswap.finance/ ), the assets they support is predominantly EVM based (BSC and ETH). All of these assets we will support on those chains. The exceptions are BTC and LTC. I will reach out to the team to see if Wallet Connect could be enabled so users can swap BTC/LTC from another wallet to ETH/BSC assets to our wallet and vice versa. As Val mentioned, native in-app support would be quite difficult as it would require expansion on blockchains support for those assets.
