Integrate xDAI, BSC, Polygon and Fantom

Summary:

With the launch of Etherspot in about 4-5 weeks, this proposal aims to give more value to the users through adding support for EVM-chains xDAI, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom and Polygon (formerly Matic). We propose a new narrative inside the wallet that puts the focus on Wallet Connect instead of mobile native integrations as our data shows that a lot of the native integrations are underutilized and most of our users use dApps through Wallet Connect instead.

Abstract: Should this proposal pass, Pillar will implement integrations with xDAI, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom and Polygon and develop a highly adaptive system of Wallet Connect integrations with dApps on any of the above chains. Users will benefit from automatic network switching with dApps and token support. Mobile native support will be removed for PoolTogether, Rari, Aave, Sablier as they have only been used by less than 1% of our users but those will keep a portfolio view of the assets that they have deposited into these integrations and be given access through Wallet Connect.

Motivation: Our native integrations, from a development perspective, are high maintenance and can be costly to develop in both money and time. It’s also worth noting that the Wallet Connect services are already of very high standards and quality. We strongly believe that our development efforts can be spent giving the community more EVM compatible chains and a better user experience. High gas fees have turned away users from mainnet activity and with the Etherspot integration we can give users a wallet that allows them to trade assets and interact with services on different EVM-based chains in a low cost way.

Specification:

  • Add wallet support for xDAI, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom and Matic.
  • Create a dedicated Wallet Connect page to explore dapps that are available on different chains.
  • Remove mobile native integrations: Aave v1, Pooltogether v1, Rari Capital and Sablier.
  • Add Aave v2, PoolTogether v2, Rari and Sablier to the Wallet Connect screen.
  • Add most popular dapps of xDAI, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom and Matic to the Wallet Connect screen.
  • Add portfolio view for Aave v1 & v2, Pooltogether v1, v2, Rari Capital and Sablier.
  • Add portfolio view of assets on xDAI, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom and Matic.

As soon as the vote is passed, we will start work to implement it but it should relatively soon. I am not familiar with Celer, we will need to investigate if it is compatible for easy integration with Etherspot. Are there any Celer dapps currently?
