Summary: An Open Beta testing program where testers gain access to pre-production builds and are rewarded with PLR tokens for finding bugs before it reaches the public. Testers will be rewarded with PLR tokens based severity of issues and speed. Testers who find the same bug are to be reward up to 5 testers.
Abstract: Should this proposal be implemented, the DAO will facilitate 3.4M PLR tokens for this year for rewarding testers. Pillar releases typically a new build every week.
Motivation: The aim of the program is to crowdsource testing and leverage the community before the release candidate build has reached the public, catching issues that can be rectified before being pushed to the app-stores. By leveraging and rewarding testers, we aim to make the product faster and better. It is also a path for users to obtain the latest features before it goes to the market.
Specification: We will create a website that enables sign ups of testers where they specify their username, addresses, device, OS and in order to track the coverage of devices users will be testing with. Next to this, we will create a guide on how to install TestFlight (iOS) and sign up to the Beta Testing via Android. We will also create a framework to submit bugs with clear descriptions with screenshots and videos. We will create a leaderboard of testers and the renumeration that they have received for testing. Testers will be rewarded through the Pillar Payment Network in order to reduce fees.
We will integrate Instabug for easier submission of bugs from the app.
The following rewards are specified for testers per testing cycle. Up to 5 testers will be rewarded for finding the same bug:
